The Sandia Gun Club held the New Mexico State Pistol Championships this past weekend at NRA’s Whittington Center in Raton, New Mexico. Three days of competition included a NRA 2700, CMP Excellence in Competition 22lr and Service Pistol matches as well as CMP President’s Revolver and NRA Distinguished Revolver Matches. Thirty competitors came from as far away as Washington state, California and Ohio, with a large contingent from Texas. The 2700 match winner shot a 2599. The weather was perfect with temperatures in the 70s to low 80s, with blue skies and little wind. All three days of competition included the usual fantastic catered brisket lunch served on this beautiful range in the high desert at the foot of the Rockies. A good time was had by all.
