Many thanks to the Amarillo Rifle and Pistol Club for holding the NRA Open Conventional Pistol Sectional match two weeks ago on March 25, 2023. New Mexico turned out in force with seven members of the Sandia Gun Club.
The 900 sectional was a 22lr match, shot at 50 feet in Amarillo’s wonderful indoor range. The win went to Roy Dean from Arizona with 858-25x, but our very own Bill Stamper came in second with 841-12x and Valerie Bernhardt from Oklahoma took third with 828-17x.
Thirty-round team matches were held in the afternoon. SGC fielded enough members for two teams and we came in second and third.
The pressure was off by Sunday March 26, and we shot a fun 1800, for some decompression after the formal sectional matches.
